About Akram Hossain

Akram Hossain is the Joint Member Secretary of National Citizen Party also
the Joint Chief Organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, a prominent student leader & a dedicated advocate for democracy & human rights in Bangladesh. As the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Students Rights Council (DU Chapter), Advisor to Students Against Torture, & Central Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Students Rights Council, he has been at the forefront of major movements at Dhaka University. Akram’s leadership has focused on uniting diverse cultural & political groups to challenge fascist regimes & push for a more democratic society.

Throughout his activism, Akram has faced significant personal risks, including multiple instances of abduction, arrest, & torture due to his unwavering stance on human rights & democratic values. Despite these challenges, he continues to be a vital force in shaping the youth movements in Bangladesh, most recently serving as the main leader of the July 2024 movement.

He has been a key figure in major student movements, including the July 2024 movement at Dhaka University, advocating for democratic reform and human rights. Despite facing abduction, arrest, and torture, his commitment to justice remains unwavering.

His unique background, combining Madrasha’s education with university-level leadership, allows him to engage with and mobilize a wide range of social, cultural, and political groups. Akram’s efforts have inspired a generation of young people in Bangladesh to stand up for their rights and demand accountability from those in power.
